Kelz TBK (The Black Kupid), rapper, singer, professional heartbreaker. As the cheeky, likable little brother of the M2Music family his star quality shines through for all to see.
Growing up Kelvin Oladimeji Ola-Ayoadea, (a prodigious name that hinted even then to the big things that lay ahead of him) Kelz always knew that a life in the spot light was the life for him.
But if you thought M2Music’s lovable lothario was always the cool customer he is today, you’d be wrong. A self-confessed nerd in his early years, Kelz only came into his own when he started college and ditched the school uniform. Studying performing arts at the Royal Academy in London, the young Casanova’s raw talent and knack for getting noticed, caught the attention of M2Music’s formidable producer-come-boss-man DymonRed.
Seeing his fair share of fly-by-nights, Dymon challenged the young wannabe there and then to show him what he was made of.
The rest, as they say, is history...
Today Kelz counts collaborations with Lady Leshurr and Vince Kidd among his impressive repertoire and has wowed the crowds at some of the UK’s hottest events, including the Shooting Stars Benefit in London last year where he played a show stopping set in front of Samuel L Jackson and most recently, playing to his biggest crowd yet at the BST in Hyde park, alongside other big names Lionel Richie, Jennifer Lopez and Smiler. Kelz has also supported Lana Del Rey at Scala in King’s Cross and Angel at the Streets of Peace concert in London and has played: BCM Planet Dance (Spain), Sound Control (Manchester), Under The Bridge (London), O2 Academy Birmingham, 02 ABC 2 Glasgow, YOYO at Notting Hill Arts Club and GOLD DUST vs. This Is Music at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen (previous guests of which have included Jessie J, Rox and Ellie Goulding), “This is Wired” at the Concrete Venue, Karmel Club, London Metropolitan University, Waltham Forest Youth Carnival and boasts a special performance alongside Vince Kidd at Dionne Bromfield’s 16th birthday party.
Currently working on his first album after the much anticipated and critically acclaimed release of his second mixtape: The Black Kupid II, Kelz looks to be following in the footsteps of his musical heroes Tinie Tempah, Gfrsh and Wretch 32.
But it hasn’t all been glamour and bright lights. Growing up in East London (before it was the hipster hangout it is today) Kelz spent his upbringing staying with countless child-minders while his single mum worked tirelessly to put food on the table.
Never shying from his humble beginnings that include a night sleeping rough with his mum, Kelz remains grounded and wears his irresistibly down to earth persona like a badge of honour. And with the support of the M2Music family and his ever loyal fan base of ‘Kupids’, one thing is for sure, he won’t be hitting the big time alone.
